Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is not legal. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is real of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel building that highlights a number of conveniences on top of the gambling den, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
