Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not permitted. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel complex that features many amenities aside from the gambling den, which provides 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
